Each year, ATDP works to offer courses that will enrich students’ interests and enhance their academic skills. This year, we are proud to introduce the following new courses for the Secondary Division:
Advanced Creative Writing with Alex Franklin
Art History with Laura Shefler *
Computer Engineering with Abraham Liao*
Social Psychology with David Chun*
Environmental Science with Jonathan Wright
What are these new classes really about, who’s teaching them, and which one is right for you? In an exclusive series of interviews, three of our expert instructors share what drives them to teach, who will benefit from their classes, and why they’re already itching to meet this summer’s students.
Logic and imagination intersect in Laura Shefler’s introductory Art History course. Ms. Shefler welcomes art history buffs and novices alike to explore the links between past and present, ancient and contemporary—and to rediscover and deepen their love of art.
Abraham Liao reflects on his journey from his time as an ATDP student obsessed with computer science to his current role as an ATDP instructor—still obsessed with computer science. He also gives us a peek at his new course, Computer Engineering, in which students will discover how computers work from the bottom up.
Can you get someone to agree with a majority opinion—even if that opinion is blatantly wrong? David Chun details how his future students will put this theory (and many others) to the test when they investigate the inner workings of people in Social Psychology.
