Explorations

In addition to its regularly scheduled courses, ATDP offers through its Explorations program a selection of optional classes, workshops, and trips. Explorations supplement the Secondary and Elementary Division courses by permitting students to delve further into special topics of current interest or to branch out into new areas.

Secondary Division Explorations meet on various weekdays, often for a half-day. They vary in length and meet between one and six times. Last year’s Explorations included series in SAT preparation, mobile app development, and neuroscience, as well as single-day options such as CPR training and special tours of campus departments.

Elementary Division Wednesday Explorations are held on Wednesdays during the same schedule as normal ED classes (from 8:30 to 12 and 1 to 4:30). Last year’s Explorations included Chess Club, Lego Engineering, and Fairytales, Myths & Legends. This year, Cal Adventures will offer PM extended care following afternoon Wednesday Explorations, from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.

The Explorations program guide and enrollment form will be sent to students along with their notifications of acceptance into ATDP. Only currently enrolled ATDP students may attend Explorations.
