In addition to its regularly scheduled courses, ATDP offers through its Explorations program a selection of optional classes, workshops, and trips. Explorations supplement the Secondary and Elementary Division courses by permitting students to delve further into special topics of current interest or to branch out into new areas. The Explorations program guide and enrollment form will be sent to students along with their notification of acceptance into ATDP. Only students currently enrolled in ATDP courses may attend Explorations.
Secondary Division Explorations meet on various weekdays, often for a half-day. They vary in length and meet between one and six times. Last year’s Explorations included series in SAT preparation, health careers, and journalism, as well as single-day options such as CPR training, personal finance, and special tours of campus departments.
Elementary Division Wednesday Explorations are held on Wednesdays during the same schedule as normal ED classes (from 8:30 to 12 and 1 to 4:30). Last year’s Explorations included Chess Club, Robotic Engineering, and Drawing Studio. This year, Cal Adventures will offer PM extended care following afternoon Wednesday Explorations, from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.
