ATDP is seeking science instructors for summer


ATDP unites teachers who love to teach with students who want to learn. We are in search of high-energy, passionate instructors and instructional associates (assistants) for our summer courses. For summer 2024, ATDP currently has several specific job openings; please see below for the list of courses by program.

Elementary Division

Program dates: July 8 to July 26 (3 weeks)
Class days: MTuThF (12 class days; no classes on Wednesday)
Class meeting time: 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Location: Michelle Obama School, Richmond

  • Physics of Motion and Force (completed gr. 5)
    We have detailed lesson plans developed by previous instructors, but they can be modified. There are many boxes of stored supplies and the teacher will receive a budget to purchase new materials
  • A biology lead instructor position may become available later
  • A few instructional associate (assistant) positions are also available, particularly in the morning

Global Programs

CFM partner program: Students are mostly from China & Taiwan
Grade level: Grades 8 to 11
Program dates: July 15 to August 8 (4 weeks)
Class meeting time: 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Location: Chemistry lab on UC Berkeley campus

  • Advanced Chemistry (Tu & Th; 8 class meetings)
    We have lesson plans developed by previous instructors, but they can be modified. The class will have a dozen or fewer students.
