For those who become familiar with our courses year after year, or for those who are just curious what’s new, here are the major updates to our catalog compared to last year. Links lead to detailed course descriptions.
Elementary Division (current K-6 graders)
Based on demand, all Elementary Division courses—including Creating Writing & Illustrating and The Art of Persuasion (both previously online)—are offered in-person only for 2024. Current 6th Graders interested in an online course can consider applying to the Secondary Division Online program, which offers a few options for exceptionally well-prepared 6th Graders.

Secondary Division (current 7-11 graders)
- Fundamentals of Art has returned from hiatus! Returning instructor Christina Ecklund is preparing to lead students in a Berkeley studio for this A-G approved course: ATDP’s only offering that counts towards the “F” subject (Visual & Performing Arts).
- Second-Year Japanese is back! Students who have completed First-Year Japanese at ATDP or at their school are encouraged to apply!
- Psychology (AP-Aligned) has been renamed to Honors Psychology due to A-G naming policy. The course itself remains unchanged, providing an AP-aligned curriculum that—together with self-study—prepares students for the AP Psychology exam in May 2025. This UC Honors course was offered online in 2023; it will be offered in-person for 2024.
- Clinical Psychology was offered in-person in 2023; it will be offered online for 2024.
