Can my child enroll in the Explorations program without taking an ATDP class?

No, the Explorations (SD and ED) program and CA Sports & Arts Camp (ED) are available only to ATDP students who are already enrolled in an ATDP class.

In addition to its regularly scheduled courses, ATDP offers through its Explorations program a selection of optional classes, workshops, and trips. Explorations supplement the Secondary and Elementary Division courses by permitting students to delve further into special topics of current interest or to branch out into new areas.

Secondary Division Explorations are generally held on Wednesdays and Thursdays. They vary in length from three to six hours, and meet between one and five times. Last year’s Explorations included series in SAT preparation, Adobe Photoshop, and robotics.

Elementary Division Explorations are held on Wednesday mornings from 8:30 to 12. Last year’s Explorations included Chess Club, Lego Engineering, and Fairytales, Myths & Legends. On Wednesday afternoons, students may choose to enroll in the Wednesdsay Cal Adventures Sports & Arts program. Any student attending ATDP can enroll in Cal Adventures.

The Explorations program guide and enrollment form will be sent to students along with their notifications of acceptance into ATDP. Only currently enrolled ATDP students may attend Explorations.
