Ode to a Tree

Ode to a Tree
By Eric Yu

Amid the forest lies you, a tree,
A bridge to life
That is a living organism,
But your seeds will sprout into
The new generations of trees ahead of you.
They will feel the same
Feeling of luxurious sunlight that you have felt.
And as the seed sprouts,
It grows into the world and clings
To life from surviving natural disasters and a saw, and all
Around you
Were the divine symbols of hope,
That was experienced with your same kind,
Like a school, but only changing through
Summer, spring, winter, and fall.
Only you had provided the
Wood, oxygen, and a home
That many life-forms need.
Your apples put a smile on faces with their taste,
And the feeling of your branches make
Children climb you
And as the wind passes by, people
Stop to listen
Whhooooo (trees sound)
You
Were like a purposeful form that
Keeps us from the suffocation
By taking carbon dioxide and releasing oxygen.
The breath of your oxygen makes our heart want to pump.
And your sprouting glory looks like a savior.
And as a bird flies by,
It makes a home in your branches, that have endured a lot.
The bird lays an egg, and its offspring grows
Until the time is right
And it
Flies.
