Here's a small photo "Cal/bum" of the campus at this time of year. If it isn't raining, the light is so beautiful (especially in the middle afternoon), and things are rendered in sharp, saturated relief. I walked from Tolman to Telegraph, snapping a few photos along the way with a digital camera. The photo page has 7 pictures in it, each about 40 or 50k each. So if your connection is slowish (14.4 modem) wait patiently for the page to load--it won't take too long!

The Secondary Division brochure went out today! Expect yours in the mail soon, if you're a returning SD student. If you're a new student interested in applying to the ATDP, to receive a brochure and application packet, go to the applications form page and follow the instructions there.

This page is finally taking shape. The sandy background color is courtesy of my second viewing of The English Patient, -- its "lush" desert scenes are fixed in the mind like scars on a burned pilot. Also, the different color page should distinguish it from the other main pages on this site, which are mostly in white. Does it look like vellum? I hope so.

The Elementary Division brochure was brought to the printer's place today! (See item on 11/15.)

Sunday afternoon. A group of ATDP students from San Francisco gather on campus to attend a show at Zellerbach Hall, the "Fiesta Navidad," which is basically a group of very talented mariachi band players and a dance troupe. Though it is wet and damp outside, the music inside the hall lifts the spirits and everyone has a great time. The Dean of the Graduate School of Education, Eugene Garcia, was also there with us...

The Secondary Division brochure, version 1997, is finally put to bed and is safely tucked away at our printer, Bay Area Rapid Press. A plug here: if you want friendly, extremely reasonable (& competitive) service, go to these guys. We've been working with Faisal, Seleem, Anwar and Farouk for many years now and are very happy with them. E-mail queries can be made to them at barp@earthlink.net. Or phone them at (510) 835-2731.

Migration of the ATDP's new webserver is in full swing. It has been relatively easy transfering the HTML docs and images over to the Netra, since I can mount the server from my PowerMac. Drag-and-drop from Mac-2-Unix is a breeze.
