President's Volunteer Service Award

ATDP has recently become a Certifying Organization for the President’s Volunteer Service Award. This means that volunteers may count hours served at ATDP (as a TA, tutor, etc.) toward a Bronze, Silver, or Gold Service award. Award criteria are determined according to the volunteer’s age.

Congratulations to Nick Stivers, who encouraged ATDP to become a Certifying Organization! Nick earned the Bronze Award this year for his work as a TA for ATDP’s AP Biology class in combination with his volunteer work with the American Red Cross.

What If Your Child is Intellectually Gifted, High Ability?

Read an interview with ATDP Director, Dr. Frank C. Worrell, in Psychology Today (September 2014).

"...even gifted kids may struggle. Within reason, if you're challenged, it means you’re working at capacity, and that’s usually a good thing."

Giftedness in the Digital Age

This September, Dr. Worrell presented an invited address at the 14th International European Council for High Ability Conference in Ljubljana, Slovenia.

ATDP 2014
In Your Words:

Many thanks to our students and families who gave feedback on the summer 2014 session!

"It was a tremendous growth experience. I was challenged beyond what I thought my abilities were, I persevered with Ms. Geasa's help, and I accomplished a lot. I was very proud of my final project and myself for my effort."

"This is a very cool program and I am very grateful to have taken part in it and to have met so many great, likeminded peers! "

"I wish I could always learn at an ATDP level."

"I really enjoy the fact that there are so many unique classes that you can't find at school. It allows students to branch out beyond the classroom into their individual interests."

"I enjoyed it very much, Thank You!"

"I had a lot of fun in my class, learned a lot and made some new friends. I also pretty much explored all of the campus when I had extra time and got to get to know UC Berkeley better."

"ATDP has been a very rewarding experience that has allowed me to explore subjects that I love and expand my mind."

"You learn so much in such a small time period, it seems to go by in an instant."

"No additional comments, I love ATDP."
