::DRUMS::

Drums have always been a love of mine. When I was around six years old, I began taking piano lessons, but became bored after about three years. My teacher, at the time, was Peter Apfelbaum, a saxophonist/ drummer/ pianist. He led the group the Hieroglyphics, (no not the hip-hop group, but more of a world music idea) and when I would learn piano, I would always stare at his drumset, always asking to play it.

Pearl Snare Drum Soon, Peter moved to New York, and stopped teaching. He referred me to one of the drummers in the Hieroglyphics, Josh Jones, to become my new teacher. Today I still take lessons from Josh. He is a **GREAT** teacher, and almost like a mentor to me about everything from music, to school, to ... whatever. He has also taught me alot about other forms of percussion, and music. I have grown to have a great interest of Afro-Cuban percussion, and I learned to play the timbales (which you can see to the left).

Mondo, from Remo

At the end of each lesson for about ten minutes, I would fool around on the drum set. I became more and more interested, finally convincing my parents to allow me to quit playing the piano, and buy a drumset. My drumset is a Remo Speedfire, no not the one above *yeah, right*, but it's all good. My set is a ghetto little shiny blue set, with one beige-ish tom, and the floor tom is sort
